We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in medical imaging to play a key role in developing advanced algorithms for analyzing and interpreting X-ray images. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a pipeline for simulating synthetic X-ray images, as well as training and testing neural network models for image analysis tasks in surgery.

Responsibilities
- Implementing machine learning models to segment intraoperative X-rays to extract bone landmarks
- Validating the accuracy and performance of the models based on real intraoperative X-rays
- Implementing a pipeline for simulating synthetic X-ray images from CT data
- Developing pipeline for processing and labeling image datasets for training and testing neural net models
- Reviewing and analyzing the latest literature on medical imaging to incorporate state-of-the-art techniques
- Utilizing open-source models and datasets for prototyping machine learning models
Qualifications
- BSc or preferably Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or related field
- Proficiency in computer vision and Python-based computer vision libraries such as OpenCV, scikit-image, Pillow
- Strong proficiency in Python and Python-based libraries such as PyTorch, NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn
- Familiarity with version control and software lifecycle management tools for collaborative development
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to independently design and implement solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with medical imaging technologies and software
- Knowledge of X-ray physics and image formation principles
- Familiarity with X-ray projection principles for modeling projection, attenuation, and noise injection
- Previous experience in a healthcare or medical technology industry
